SOUTHEAST U.S. KOREAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
한미동남부 상공회의소
Welcome Message from President (인사말)

Picture
WELCOME to the Southeast United States Korean Chamber of Commerce ("SEUSKCC")

Our mission is to be the "go-to" organization for
Korea & United States economic relationship.

저희 상공회의 미션은:

"한국과 미국의 기업들이 만나는 곳 입니다."

We are the first and only Chamber in the Southeast United States that has a mission to bridge the affairs of the United States and South Korea together to foster our economic ties and further development.  "Han-Mi Chamber", "한미 상공회" is another name we go by to represent the bi-lateral focus.

Thank you for your interest and support to join us in our mission, and we invite you to take part together.

A message from the President:

It is my sincere honor to have been nominated to lead the Southeast United States Korean Chamber of Commerce, Inc. ("SEUSKCC") – formerly known as The Korea-Southeast United States Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

I look forward to continuing the tradition of promoting great friendships between Koreans and Americans.  Of course, this is a road well-travelled and so many have already given so much more than I can even imagine (including the ultimate sacrifice of early missionaries, the Korean war, and the Peace Corps).  Our Chamber's mission is to bridge, develop, and foster higher ideals in the U.S. - Korea economic relationships, given this mission, I am truly humbled to be asked to serve to lead in this capacity.   It is not a responsibility I take lightly and therefore I kindly request your help, support and guidance as I contribute in serving our communities.

By way of my background, I grew-up living as an Expat family, where my father worked for Daewoo Corporation, a Korean conglomerate multinational company, leading projects in mainly southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, South Africa and Angola.
Despite being born in South Korea I have spent most of my life abroad having international education, and thinking I would be a diplomat myself.  I enjoyed cross-culture, cross-border, and multi-national relationships which has been the natural environment I was fortunate to grow-up in that were truly near and dear.    It was however during the IMF - Asian financial crisis which affected many multinational companies in South Korea, including Daewoo, facing work-out and bankruptcy, that my family were forced to resided back to homeland. That is when I decided that I wanted to come to the United States to study international business and finance.

Today, people around the globe has been connected more than ever before.  I believe the U.S. - Korea alliance has been very successful over the many years, and yet a new set of challenges are ahead of us, which we need various supporters to be ready to take the next steps.  Next generation leaders with a desire to connect and learn more about the true means to step forward to the next level in flourishing Korea - U.S. relationship needs to realize, how to lead among us, and how more practically we can "work together" to face new challenges and projects in this fast changing world.

It goes without saying that there is a very large and active Korean community in the southeast U.S.  My expectation is that it will continue to grow and flourish.   SEUSKCC is excited to be a part of this growth and wants to help facilitate the building and strengthening of bridges between Koreans and citizens of the United States.

    SEUSKCC’s mission is to . . .

(a) promote goodwill, understanding and cooperation, (b) encourage and promote friendly relations and social contact, (c) organize, promote and conduct seminars and meetings, (d) provide a forum for the discussion of problems and to exchange ideas and mutual assistance with respect to trade, commerce and investments, and (e) collect and make available to the public information relating to trade and business

. . . between citizens of the Republic of South Korea and the United States.

SUESKCC’s mission can only be accomplished with the help and support of many friends like you.  I thank you for staying engaged and don’t hesitate to reach me if you would like to play a more active role in the SEUSKCC.

Jae Kim
