In our increasingly globalized marketplace, international trade plays a central role for a country. Free trade agreements like the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) help foster trade, but true success comes when foreign businesses decide to invest in a trading partner. Foreign direct investment (FDI) strengthens relations between nations by deepening economic ties and strengthens the U.S. economy. Recently-released data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) shows that the United States is the top destination for FDI and the total dollar amount of FDI in the United States reached a record $3.1 trillion in 2015.The United States offers many benefits to foreign companies interested in investing here.

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the best first half performance in company history, Kia Motors America (KMA) today reported best-ever July sales of 59,969 units, up 6.5 percent over the same period last year. The brand's sixth monthly sales record in seven months included: The highest July sales totals for the Forte family of compact cars and Sportage compact CUV in company history Double digit increases for Rio, Forte, Sportage and Sedona over July 2015 "Showroom traffic and sales have shot up over the last six weeks since J.D. Power recognized Kia as the highest scoring nameplate in the industry for initial quality and bestowed four APEAL awards to our world-class offerings in some of the largest and most competitive segments," said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. WEST POINT — Kia has been recognized as the top brand for initial quality by J.D. Power, the first time in 27 years a nonpremium brand has held the top spot.
“For the brand itself, it is absolutely huge,” said Stuart Countess, chief administrative officer of the Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia plant in West Point. “Being a nonpremium brand and winning … is just outstanding, but I think more importantly what it means for the facility, KMMG in West Point, Georgia, is tremendous. The amount of vehicles put out, the Sorento and the Optima (manufactured at the West Point plant) heavily influence what goes in the overall brand score.”
